Hillsborough-which was only successful in its fight to obtain its own unique zip code a few years ago.In other words, what might have made sense in the days before large-scale housing developments were built no longer makes much sense. I base this on the fact that it seems to completely baffle people who come here from other states.Īdditionally, changes in population density subsequent to the establishment of zip codes (in the late '60s, IIRC?) are not necessarily reflected in the assignment of zip codes. I think NJ has more of this "overlapping" phenomenon where you live in one town but your mailing address is that of another.
